Ravi, based in Noida, Delhi, has been a Strategic Advisor with Akhand Jyoti since May 2011 and joined the Board of Trustee in April 2016.
Ravi’s early years and schooling were at IIT Kharagpur and Allahabad. Graduating in Economics from the University of Allahabad, he went on to obtain an MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur in 1977. Ravi spent 33+ years with the corporate world across several industry verticals and functions at the CXO level, of which the last 12 yeares were in business consulting across geographies.
A chance viewing of a store poster in the early 90s that showed a fat rat sitting on a very plush CEOs leather bound office chair and with a very satisfied success inspired look, with the caption – “at the end of it you shall still be a rat”, made him continuously yearn for happiness beyond the materialism of the corporate rat race. This led to his voluntary early retirement from the corporate world in Jan.2011 as Director S.Asia and Member, APAC Market Development Board of Mercer Consulting.
Ravi’s second innings is focused around 1) assisting and value adding to social enterprises in an advisory capacity, 2) propagate the concept of Social Entrepreneurship by running a full 3 credit course at a leading Business school, 3) resurrecting his latent passion for photography with focus on landscapes and wildlife photography, and 4) travel all around the world – “I travel therefore I am”
He is also a Mentor and Board member of SoCHE Foundation and has an Advisory role with Goonj and Jaipur Rugs.
