There are around 4,56,000 children in Bihar who need spectacle for vision correction but do not wear one.
A simple prescription eyeglass can not only correct vision but enhance the learning capacity of a child. Children do not complain of defective vision and may not even be aware of the problem. This warrants early detection and treatment to prevent permanent disability.
It takes on an average only Rs.50 to screen a child at school and support him/her with a pair of glasses.

Sonali had issues identifying text on the black board from a distance. Due to this she couldn't copy notes properly. Now, as her refractive error has been corrected with a pair of new glasses, she is happily attending school once again.
Sonalika had very poor vision of 6/24 in both eyes. She couldn't see anything at a distance and would even fall while walking. She had problems while studying because her near vision was poor too. She raised the issue with her family quite a few times but her family didn't believe her. She broke into tears when our outreach team screened her and provided her with spectacle. She is now leading a normal life.
Pinki, a 12 years old student from Gopalganj had poor vision. She belongs to a very poor family. Her father works as a daily wage earner and stays away from home. The family couldn't afford a spectacle and then we intervened at her school. We provided her with a spectacle and she thanked her lucky stars for the change that has happened in her life.
