Akhand Jyoti actively goes out to the remotest villages to find the people suffering from curable blindness. Over 50% of these people do not have access to cataract and other eye care services.
Our outreach team moves systematically from door to door, village to village to identify and bring patients to our surgical centers.
The blind are examined locally, given appointments for treatment, and transported to our centres from and to their villages. This helps over-come the primary challenge the poor face in reaching the care providers.
Over 200 patients are screened and brought into our base centers for sight-restoring surgeries each day.
We also provide free spectacles to people with refractive problems who cannot afford to buy glasses.
We have set up the first comprehensive eye hospital in rural India.
